I Tried Money Saving Makeup Hacks

We have all found ourselves at some point watching those hack videos and probably wondered do any of these really work? Well curiosity got to me and I decided to try a few for myself! Each hack consists of items you already have at home, and I have included a list of what items I needed.

Chapstick

Eyeshadow

Almond

Lighter

Contour Powder

Spoolie or Something to Scrape with

Colored Pencil

Hot Water

Liquid Lipstick

Bobby pin

Thick Powder Brush

Now that the items list is out of the way, we can dive into the hacks. I will be describing what is supposed to happen, then what actually happened and give my opinion on if the hack is legitimate or not.

Using Eyeshadow and Lip Balm for Lipstick

The hack is to use some lip balm, then put some eye shadow on top of it and it becomes lipstick or lip tint. When I tried this I actually found this to be the case. Not only did it work, but it looked like the real deal and it didn't have an unpleasant taste. This one was actually legit.

Burnt Almond Brow Powder

The hack here is you take a lighter to the point of an almond and it chars. Then you take the burnt almond and fill in your brows like it's brow powder. When I tried it, the burnt part did create a dark powder but it wasn't enough to fill both brows. This one is definitely plausible but not 100% true.

Using Brown Powder As Fake Freckles

So you take a spoolie (or something scratchy) and rub it against your bronzer or contour powder. Then collect the loose powder on a brush. Then tap the brush speckling your face with the powder and blend for a realistic freckle look. The first part worked but when I tried tapping the brush nothing came off at first. Finally after vigorously tapping I got some powder off but when blended it made a brown blob. This hack is a fail full of lies.

Using a Colored Pencil for Eyeliner or Lip Liner

For this one you take the colored pencil of your choice and soak it in water. Then use it as either eye liner or lip liner. This one worked surprisingly well, I was shook! It not only worked on skin, but it was really pigmented. I did have to rewet the pencil once but that wasn't a surprise. This was a shockingly true hack

Using Liquid Lipstick for Eyeliner

This one is self explanatory, use a thin brush to turn liquid lipstick into liquid liner. When I tried it, it did go on the eyelid and was in a line. Then I blinked and smudge city! It didn't ever really dry well on the lid and just kept smudging and getting on my upper lid! This one was a big fail!

Using Bobby To Transform a Brush into a Fan Brush

Basically you put the bobby pins at the bottom of the brush pointing to the top on both side and it turns it into a fan brush. When I tried it, I struggled, it so did not work for me. I think it may have been too thick though, so I still think this one is plausible.

Overall I was shocked by how many of these hacks were actually real. It was a ton of fun trying these and I will definitely be doing more of these type posts.
